The directors have a mix of experience in both the commercial and technical aspects of digital rights management, having been involved in distribution, retail, computer games development and new technologies for several years and, latterly, in various online businesses.
Initial investment was complemented with a government-backed SMART Feasibility Award granted by the Department of Trade and Industry, and a full working prototype was built and demonstrated in the first half of 2004.
By Q4 2004, the company had successfully raised additional finance and been awarded a further Research & Development grant by the DTI to complete the first commercial release of the DRML service in March 2005.
Further work to Q4 2005 has resulted in a rebranding and creation of the DRML™ service covering content for both PC and mobile phone.
